The next question, is a fixed bed is requiredFixed beds, double, Single and Bunks
The fixed bed layout has gone from strength to strength in resent years The nightly ritual of making the bed up at the end of the day becomes an issue for some people. A fixed bed solves this problem.
It also means that if one of the occupants wants to retire early it possible to do so with out transforming the caravan, as the rear bed is already made.
The main criticism of a fixed bed layout, is the lack of flexability. Having said that, it is the area of the caravan that the most amount of time is spent in, so this may not be such a bad thing.
The fixed bed also covers single bunk beds for children. This gives the children a fixed area to sleep, allowing then to have their own beds, making a little bit easer at bed time.
Single beds can be a good option for older children and adults alike.
Non fixed beds
Not having a fixed bed will free up space in the caravan which can be used in other ways, such as an end washroom or extra living space.
The end washroom gives the best shower facilities. This appeals to many people, the thought of a shower in a caravan is ideal, as a trip to the shower block isn't necessary.
See my section on showers in caravans for more information.
